Charlie Lyons is an attorney, public affairs professional, and former state and federal government official.
A co-founder and Vice President at ShellyLyons Public Affairs and Communications, Lyons is a recognized expert in government, public affairs, and law.
Lyons has been a public affairs consultant working with major corporations, non-profits, statewide coalitions, foundations, and trade associations. He has extensive experience in assisting clients grappling with crises that are being played out in the media spotlight.
He is formerly State Director for U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Jr. of Pennsylvania, where he was a senior advisor on strategy and communications and oversaw the Senator’s state operations, managing outreach and constituent service efforts through seven regional offices across Pennsylvania.
Earlier in his career, Lyons was an attorney in private practice and with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington.
Lyons also was a senior aide to Pennsylvania Governor Robert P. Casey, serving as Director of the Governor’s Policy Office, Executive Assistant to the Governor, and ultimately as Chief of Staff.
He served on several state boards and commissions, including the Environmental Quality Board, the Ben Franklin Partnership, State Public School Building Authority, and Pennsylvania Higher Educational Facilities Authority. He has also served on numerous non-profit boards, and is currently Vice-Chairman of the board of Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children.
Lyons holds a B.S. from the University of Scranton, magna cum laude, and a J.D. with honors from The George Washington University Law School.
